Cory grew up in Eastern Iowa, near where many consider to be the birthplace of the Tiny House Movement. He attended Iowa State University, where he studied architecture and design. Cory started designing tiny homes on scraps of graph paper in 2008 after reading an article in the New York Times that was among the first to feature diminuitive dwellings. What started as a personal design challenge quickly grew, along with the Tiny House Movement, into a passion for designing beautiful, compact living spaces.

Relocating from Iowa to Texas in 2013, Cory is an active member of the Tiny House Movement in the DFW area. He and his spouse have started construction on their own tiny house in the Dallas area.
